Building Corporate Training That Actually Sticks

9 March 2026 · 6 min read

Every L&D leader knows the uncomfortable truth: most training evaporates. Participants enjoy the session, rate it well, and change nothing. The problem isn't the trainers or the content — it's the design.

Training sticks when three conditions are met. First, relevance: the program must solve a problem participants recognize from last week, not a hypothetical case study. That requires diagnostic work before design — shadowing teams, analyzing performance data, interviewing managers.

Second, practice: adults learn by doing. The best programs spend a fraction of the time on concepts and the majority on simulations, role-plays and application to live work. One practiced skill beats ten explained frameworks.

Third, reinforcement: behaviour change happens in the weeks after training, not during it. Manager involvement, follow-up nudges, peer accountability and on-the-job assignments convert a workshop into a new way of working.

When we design corporate programs at Satyam Management, these three conditions are non-negotiable — and they're why our clients see training impact show up where it matters: in their business numbers.
